About Knockout Math
Knockout Math shows the league-phase tables of the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League and answers the question every fan asks: what does my team need to go through? For every team you can see its chances of finishing in the top 8 or the top 24, how many points are usually enough and which matches will decide it. You can also enter your own predictions and see how the table and the chances change.
The site is independent and not affiliated with UEFA or any club. It is not a betting service and gives no betting advice.
Where the data comes from
Fixtures follow the schedules published by UEFA. Results are added after every matchday, after which all tables, chances and texts are recalculated. The date of the last update is shown on every page.
How the chances are calculated
Every team has an approximate strength rating. For each remaining match the model estimates the expected number of goals for both sides from the difference in ratings plus a home advantage, and draws the score from a Poisson distribution, the standard statistical model for football scores.
The rest of the league phase is played out 30,000 times per competition. After each run the table is sorted using UEFA's league-phase tiebreakers: points, goal difference, goals scored, away goals scored, wins, away wins, and then the opponents' combined points, goal difference and goals scored. A team's chance of a top-8 finish is simply the share of runs in which it finished in the top 8. All pages use the same simulation, so the numbers always match across the site.
“How many points are needed” shows how often a team finishing on a given total ended in the top 8 or the top 24 across the simulations. “What if” figures on team pages show the chance of going through after a win, a draw or a defeat in a given match.
“Secured” and “out” badges
Badges such as “Top 8 ✓” or “Out” are not estimates. They are shown only when the outcome is mathematically certain whatever the remaining results, assuming the worst case whenever teams could finish level on points. Once all matches are played, the final table with the official tiebreakers is used.
Limitations
The strength ratings are approximate and do not account for injuries, squad rotation or form. Disciplinary points and the club coefficient, UEFA's final tiebreakers, are not included. The chances are estimates, not guarantees, and should be read as a guide to what is likely rather than a prediction of what will happen.

Kā tiek aprēķinātas iespējas
Katrai komandai ir aptuvens spēka reitings. Katrai atlikušajai spēlei modelis no reitingu starpības un mājas laukuma priekšrocības aprēķina abu komandu gaidāmo vārtu skaitu un rezultātu izloza pēc Puasona sadalījuma, kas ir standarta statistiskais modelis futbola rezultātiem.
Atlikušais līgas posms tiek izspēlēts 30 000 reižu katrā līgā. Pēc katras reizes tabula tiek sakārtota pēc UEFA kritērijiem: punkti, vārtu starpība, gūtie vārti, izbraukumā gūtie vārti, uzvaras, izbraukuma uzvaras un pēc tam pretinieku kopējie punkti, vārtu starpība un gūtie vārti. Komandas iespēja iekļūt top 8 ir to reižu daļa, kurās tā beidza top 8. Visas lapas izmanto vienu un to pašu simulāciju, tāpēc skaitļi visur sakrīt.
Atzīmes “nodrošināts” un “izkritusi”
Atzīmes, piemēram, “Top 8 ✓” vai “Izkritusi”, nav novērtējumi. Tās tiek rādītas tikai tad, ja rezultāts ir matemātiski drošs pie jebkuriem atlikušajiem rezultātiem, vienādu punktu gadījumā pieņemot sliktāko variantu. Kad visas spēles ir aizvadītas, tiek izmantota galīgā tabula ar oficiālajiem kritērijiem.
Ierobežojumi
Spēka reitingi ir aptuveni un neņem vērā traumas, rotāciju vai formu. Disciplīnas punkti un klubu koeficients, UEFA pēdējie kritēriji, nav iekļauti. Iespējas ir novērtējumi, nevis garantijas.
